COVID-19 - 2022/2023 Update

We have completely gone back to in person sessions! Thank you to everyone who helped us though these virtual sessions. This page will no longer be part of our main headings but will still keep this page as a reminder of the amazing success of virtual teddy bear hospital.

Some of our previous presidents wrote a paper on the success of our virtual sessions which can be read here!

2021/2022 Update

We have successfully gone back to majority of sessions being in person with only 3 being online ( due to increasing numbers). We are hoping to be fully in person for the session in the academic year 2022/2023

COVID-19

As a team consisting mainly of Medical Students, we take the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously. As such, we have dedicated a lot of time to adapt our teaching sessions and teaching material accordingly.

In-person teaching (preferably!)

Given the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we are strongly planning to hopefully re-introduce in person teaching sessions in schools, where appropriate.

However, safety is still our highest priority and we have created measures in place, to ensure the children are protected. This includes volunteers being regularly tested the morning before coming to each session, cleaning all equipment before and after the session as well as cleaning products/hand sanitizers that will be available to all during the sessions.

The exact logistics of the sessions will depend on your school’s resources.

Video-making

In an effort to increase our online presence, and showcase our teaching to more schools, we have set to create videos of our adapted stations. These have all been developed and produced by our Team and can be viewed free of charge. They can be used as a complement to students’ learning, and serve as an example of the type of teaching we intend to do, remotely.

These videos can be found on our youtube channel or here! (link to Page 3.3 “Get Involved – Video stations”)

Helping children prevent spread

We have also introduced a station to teach students specifically about the importance of handwashing, and the technique for proper handwashing. We will be teaching this station remotely (and eventually in-person), and it will also be available in pre-recorded video format.
